Drumroll, please! The public has decided on a fitting new name for the existing Civic Square in Salisbury City Centre.

The site will be given the joint name of ‘Salisbury Civic Plaza / Inparrinthi Kumangka’, which means “to meet together” in Kaurna language.

The name, which has been chosen in consultation with the traditional owners of the land, received the most votes within a poll conducted on Council’s website.

Mayor Gillian Aldridge OAM said it was an appropriate and exciting name for the bustling City Centre area.

“Anyone who has spent time in the Salisbury City Centre knows it is truly a lively place to meet, as well as a proud example of the plethora of cultures that make up our diverse and vibrant community,” said Mayor Aldridge OAM.

“The new name ‘Salisbury Civic Plaza / Inparrinthi Kumangka’ is reflective of the community coming together as one to celebrate a new chapter of revitalisation with the activation of the City Centre and the official opening of the Salisbury Community Hub later this year.”
