WA Museum Boola Bardip has welcomed Co3 Contemporary Dance as its first resident dance company.
The company has taken up a two-month residency in the stunning heritage-listed Jubilee Building where Artistic Director Raewyn Hill will develop the first stage of her new work, The Inside, an immersive virtual reality experience.
The work merges live performance and digital technology. Co3 is working with Western Australian company Frame Labs to push the boundaries of dance and immersive audience experiences.
As part of plans to activate the museum in new and exciting ways, Co3 will also provide weekly pop-up open rehearsals and free weekday professional dance classes.
The residency is the latest cultural initiative at the WA Museum Boola Bardip, which has welcomed more than 600,000 visitors since opening in November 2020.
As stated by Culture and the Arts Minister David Templeman:

“This residency will allow Co3 to develop their new work, while also providing visitors with opportunities to interact with this outstanding contemporary dance company through free dance classes and rehearsals in museum spaces.
“These activities give visitors an extraordinary opportunity to experience the stunning heritage listed spaces within WA Museum Boola Bardip in new and exciting ways.”
