Cognizant’s new global delivery centre in Australia to create 1,600 jobs

US consultancy firm Cognizant is opening a new global delivery centre in South Australia. The centre will support clients to use digital technologies to meet their sustainability goals.

Helping clients meet sustainability goals

Cognizant’s new global delivery centre in Adelaide will provide clients with access to experts in:

  • software
  • artificial intelligence
  • machine learning
  • cloud computing
  • data analytics.

The global delivery centre will also include a Centre of Excellence. It will help clients use artificial intelligence, 5G and space technologies to become carbon neutral.

Cognizant will take advantage of the opportunity to expand its capabilities in Internet of Things, architecture and data, says Jane Livesey, CEO of Cognizant Australia and New Zealand.

‘Being based in Adelaide will help us fulfil our purpose to build a high-quality, market-leading digital transformation capability that enhances the lives of everyday Australians,’ says Livesey.

The centre will create 1,600 jobs for digital tech specialists.

Home to leading global tech companies

Cognizant joins a growing list of multinational tech companies calling South Australia home. These include Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, MTX Group, Microsoft Azure Space and Nokia 5G.

Cognizant will also have access to leading research institutions based in Adelaide. They include the Australian Institute for Machine Learning and the MIT bigdata Living Lab.

The latter is a collaboration between the South Australian Government, Bank SA, Optus, mobile telephone data analytics specialist DSpark and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Global tech companies and IT consultancies are investing in Australia because of the digital transformation occurring across the economy.

Australia’s Digital Economy Strategy maps the pathways the nation will take to be a leading digital economy and society by 2030. The Australian Government is investing in settings, infrastructure and incentives to grow the digital economy.
