Chapel St. Collective opened with the goal of producing a home for local artists, makers and designers to promote and sell their works.
Artwork for sale is almost exclusively by local artists, including unique pieces which can’t be found elsewhere.
Chapel St. Collective owner and artist Ollie Savage was inspired to open the store after having trouble purchasing works from local artists.
“Every time I wanted to see a variety of works from local artists in the one space, I found myself travelling northside. I would always complain about it to my partner and hoped someone would make something right here.
“And she said, why don’t you make it yourself? Just do it.”
A few months later in November 2021, Savage opened the Chapel St Collective.
“Our mission is to provide a space for artists to showcase and sell their artwork. A lot of artists were left in the dark over the last 18 months because of the pandemic. This is our way of supporting artists of all kinds, no matter how big or small,” she said.
“By supporting our small business, you’re supporting your local community.”
Chapel St. Collective accepts works from a diverse range of artists. A quick peek into their new space revealed beautiful fine line sketches from architects, several framed insect works from an entomologist and high-quality handmade wallets, belts and handbags from a local crafter.
