Bass Coast Shire Council will distribute over $171,000 to 53 community groups to complete 64 projects, in the first round of the 2019 Community Grants Program.
The funding Round received a record 89 applications, requesting over $285,000 in grant funding. This interest reflects increased promotion of Community Grant opportunities and active engagement with community groups.
The applications represent a wide range of activities and highlight the importance of the Community Grants program in supporting the Bass Coast community, to enhance services and facilities and bring varied projects to life.
From the 89 applications, 21 applications have been recommended for full funding and 43 applications for part funding.
Where part funding has been recommended, it has been determined that the project is still viable for the group to deliver.
Archies Creek Hall was successful in obtaining major project funding of up to $10,000, to assist with the installation of air conditioning in the much loved hall.
Bass Coast Shire Deputy Mayor Cr Bruce Kent said there was a diverse range of projects recommended for funding for this Round.
“This Round includes support for sports and recreation, arts, cultural and heritage groups, youth activities, the environment and projects of benefit to the broader community,” Cr Kent said.
“Another essential role of the Grants is to provide funding for organisations to purchase equipment or make capital improvements to facilities.”
There was $127,000 budgeted for Round One 2019, plus a carryover amount from Round Two of the program in 2018 of $44,763, giving a total amount of $171,763. The allocation distributed in Round One will fully expend the funding pool for 2018/19.
