Community groups share in Council funding

The Cairns Food and Wine Festival, Joy to the World carols and fireworks event, and the annual Halloween Tunnel of Terror in Redlynch are among the latest 18 community organisations to benefit from Council’s community grant program.

Almost $172,000 has been delivered to 18 sporting, multicultural, arts and community organisations as part of Council’s Community Partnerships Grant (Round 3).

The Community Partnerships Grant assists community groups and organisations with the delivery of events, activities and programs that enhance the lives of residents, celebrate important community occasions, and provide opportunities to develop social cohesion and connection in the Cairns region.

Successful applicants for Community Partnerships Grant (Round 3):

  • Australian Police Rugby Union Association Inc: $10,800 for the Australian Police Rugby Union National Championships
  • Cairns Athletics Inc: $5,200 for the Cairns Athletics Coral Coast Carnival
  • Cairns Basketball Inc: $10,000 for the Under 14 Girls State Basketball Championship 2022
  • Cairns Christian Ministers Network Inc: $11,000 for the Joy to the World carols and fireworks
  • Cairns Food and Wine Festival Inc: $25,000 for the Cairns Food and Wine Festival
  • Cairns Hindu Samaj Inc: $5,000 for the Ganeshotsav
  • Cairns Multicultural Committee: $25,000 for the Cairns CARMA Multicultural Festival & Youth Empowerment & Peace Finale
  • Castle Hill Spinney Ltd: $2026 for the Christmas Lights on the Move 2022
  • Earlville Pony Club Inc: $5,064 for the Earlville Pony Club Carnival weekend
  • Fiji Community Association Far North Queensland: $10,000 for the Cairns Bula 7’s Tournament
  • The Japanese Society of Cairns Inc: $16,689 for the Japan Bon Dance Festival
  • Machans Beach Community Association: $4,000 for Moon Over Machans
  • Nautilus Scuba Club Inc: $4050, for the Nautilus Scuba Club Underwater Photo Competition
  • Redlynch Valley Community Group Inc: $2,422 for the Redlynch Halloween Tunnel of Terror
  • The Dr Edward Koch Foundation Ltd: $9,326 for the All of Us Festival – Celebrating Mental Health Week
  • The Great Pyramid Race & Country Fair: $13,500 for the Great Pyramid Race
  • UMI Arts Ltd: $9,885 for the Big Talk One Fire Cultural Festival
  • Yorkeys Knob Residents Association Inc: $3,000 for the Yorkeys Knob Twilight Christmas Market
