Community invited to have their say on Yeronga PDA

The Yeronga community is invited to have their say on a proposed development scheme for a mixed-use precinct in the Yeronga Priority Development Area (PDA).

Minister for State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning Cameron Dick said the submissions would help guide the renewal of the site on the corner of Villa Street and Park Road.

“Over the past 12 months, Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) has been working with the Yeronga community to explore opportunities to transform the unused site into an inviting, sustainable and connected place,” Mr Dick said.

“Now, the community can view the proposed precinct development scheme online, make submissions, and attend one of EDQ’s information sessions to learn more.

“The scheme establishes a planning framework to transform the site and sets out intended land uses, development criteria and infrastructure envisaged for the PDA.

“Rejuvenation of the approximately 3 ha site will result in a predominantly residential community that offers a range of diverse and innovative housing options, and small-scale, mixed-use retail space.”

Member for Miller Mark Bailey said as part of the rejuvenation the Palaszczuk Government remained committed to delivering a permanent home for the Yeronga Community Centre at the site.

“We’re turning a derelict old site into a mixed-use precinct that will benefit the whole community, and key to this will be delivery of a permanent home for the Yeronga Community Centre,” Mr Bailey said.

“With the demolition of the site’s old buildings now complete, this is an opportunity for the community to have their say on the mixed-use precinct’s proposed development scheme as it transitions to the next exciting stage.

“It’s great to see that connectivity for local pedestrians and bikes are at the core of the Yeronga PDA, and I’m also pleased to announce that approximately 2 hectares of the original former TAFE land will be handed back to Yeronga State High School.

“The Palaszczuk Government is committed to transforming this site into an integrated and inviting community hub everyone can enjoy.”
