Community panel to co-design new UDF

The City of Greater Geelong will implement a new engagement process that aims to give the community a greater voice on the future of the Pakington North Precinct.

A review of the feedback from multiple rounds of consultation has highlighted that there are still questions and concerns from the community about the Urban Design Framework (UDF) for this much-loved area.

As a result, the City will not bring the UDF to Council at the November meeting for final endorsement.

The deliberative consultation process will see a community panel created, made up of residents, traders and customers of the Pakington North Precinct.

Run by an independent facilitator, the community panel will take part in a series of workshops with City officers to co-design a new and agreed UDF for the precinct.

This new UDF will come before the Council next year.

Mayor Trent Sullivan

The City has been listening to the community’s feedback.

After careful consideration of the passionate feedback from local residents, traders and visitors to the Pakington North Precinct, we feel a fresh approach is needed.

Members of the community panel will bring their unique insights to the workshops, where all feedback provided in previous engagements will be considered.

Officers look forward to working with the panel to shape the future of the precinct together.

Council thanks community members for taking the time to share their ideas and insights on the precinct since 2018.
