Community tree planting day in Ludmilla

Darwin City Council

As part of the Better Suburbs program, City of Darwin is holding a community planting day on Fitzer Drive, Ludmilla this Saturday 21 October 2023.

Darwin residents are invited to help create a greener city by attending the planting day, which will see more than 40 trees planted.

Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis said this community planting day was a great way for the community to get involved in creating a cooler and greener city while improving the amenity of the area.

“Better Suburbs projects involve listening to the needs of the community, and this community planting day is the result of our dedicated Chan Ward Elected Members working with their constituents to deliver projects that matter to them,” Mr Vatskalis said.

“I encourage residents to come down, get involved and enjoy the satisfaction of knowing you have made a contribution to your community.

“Planting holes will be pre-dug to ensure easy planting for volunteers and our Parks team will be on the ground to assist,” he said.

Across the past year, City of Darwin has given away 13,000 native plants and has planted more than 4000 plants into revegetation sites across Darwin.

The event will be held from 8am until 11am at Fitzer Drive, between Hamey Street and Bagot Road, Ludmilla.

Attendees are encouraged to bring sunscreen, wear a hat and enclosed shoes. Water will be provided. Bookings are not required.
