A man has been charged with alleged high-range drink driving – five times the legal limit – in the state’s north.
About 9pm yesterday (Friday 30 October 2026), officers attached to Port Stephens-Hunter Police District were called to a petrol station on Richardson Road, Raymond Terrace, following concerns for welfare from members of the public.
Police attended and located a 30-year-old man inside a ute with its engine running.
The driver was subjected to a roadside breath test, which allegedly returned a positive result.
He was arrested and taken to Raymond Terrace Police Station where a secondary breath analysis returned a reading of 0.250 – five times the legal limit of 0.05.
The 30-year-old was issued a Court Attendance Notice for drive with high range prescribed concentration of alcohol and his licence was suspended.
He is due to appear before Maitland Local Court on Monday 14 December 2026.
