South Australian unionists mourn Hon. Bob Hawke AC

SA Unions will make a Memorial Book available for South Australians to record their condolences on the passing of former Prime Minister and Australian Council of Trade Unions President Bob Hawke.

The first messages to be entered in the book will be recorded today at midday at the Australian Education Union 163 Greenhil Rd Parkside, after which union secretaries, members and politicians will hold a minute’s silence in honour of Mr Hawke’s legacy.

Secretary Angas Story says Mr Hawke’s contribution to Australian working people is almost immeasurable.

“During his time as President of the ACTU and as Prime Minister, there were many great achievements, none more life changing for working people than Medicare and superannuation. These were lasting and nation-changing legacies.”

After the ceremony at midday today, the Book will be available to the public

at 170 Greenhill Road, Parkside, from 9am-5pm every day next week.
