Shoalhaven City Council and Public Works Advisory have engaged in air, sea and water testing of the Shoalhaven Local Government Area bushfire affected areas since late December.
In response to concerns raised during the recent Community Meeting at Ulladulla over the air quality at Lake Conjola, testing was repeated to confirm airborne asbestos fibre levels. Shoalhaven City Council is pleased to confirm it has been advised by the Public Works Advisory that the air quality, at the worst impacted area of Conjola Park, is good.
Recent air quality testing results were below the detection limit of 0.01 fibres/mL, with counts not considered significantly above that of the background. These results are from one-off testing, which was supported by the PVA spraying of identified sites.
Council understands and empathises with the community’s concerns of airborne asbestos fibres. Council trusts that testing results offers our Community peace of mind that the air quality is at a safe level.
Council would also like to remind the community to register with the NSW Statement Government at; https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/transaction/nsw-bushfire-clean-register-now as the State Government continues to coordinate the clean-up of residents and businesses impacted.
