This winter during NAIDOC week, Brambuk: The National Park and Cultural Centre is hosting a range of live musical performances and cultural workshops conducted by some of Gariwerd’s most talented Traditional Owners.
After a hugely successful program in summer, the winter program of the Brambuk Winter Series will kick off on July 2. Each day of the program will commence with a Welcome to Country ceremony hosted by a Gariwerd Traditional Owner. The new line-up includes small, intimate live music performances by well-known artists including:
Saturday 2 July – Lee ‘Sonnyboy’ Morgan – Lee ‘Sonnyboy’ Morgan, a singer-songwriter from the Gunditjmara / Kirrae Whuurung nations, has performed and appeared with many of Australia’s legendary talents. His unique music comes from a history of folk, roots, country, rock, and acid country.
Lee ‘Sonnyboy’ Morgan is one of the artists performing this winter at Brambuk.
Saturday 9 July – Andy Alberts and The Walkabouts – Andy Alberts is a Gunditjmara Koorie singer-songwriter who has travelled Australia playing various festivals and venues, both as a solo artist and with his band The Walkabouts. Together, Andy and his band will treat attendees to their unique blend of country and country rock.

Saturday 2 July – Aboriginal storytelling through art hosted by Sherry Johnston – Sherry will share stories about Aboriginal symbolism and how she incorporates this into her artwork. Participants will be invited to work on a collaborative art piece, with each person taking home a small canvas they have painted. Sherry is a descendant of the Keerray Woorroong people within the Maar (Gunditjmara) Nation. In 2019, she became the first Curator of Cultural Engagement in the Warrnambool Art Gallery, promoting and protecting local Aboriginal stories, artefacts, and artists.
Saturday 9 July – Workshop Artefacts and symbolism by Brett Clarke – In this interactive workshop, Brett – a Kirrae Whurrung / Gunditjmara Nation song man, lore man, cultural ambassador, and educator – will introduce participants to Aboriginal language, songs and chants, and the use of traditional tools and weapons. This workshop is suitable for children.
