Consultation Paper – Developing a program to prevent harmful sexual behaviours for children and young people in Tasmania

Roger Jaensch,Minister for Human Services

The Hodgman majority Liberal Government believes every child deserves to live their life free of the threat of family and sexual violence, whether it be from their home or their community.

We are strongly committed to preventing and responding to family and sexual violence in Tasmania, and our new $26 million Family and Sexual Violence Action Plan – Safe Homes, Families, Communities will work towards a safer Tasmania, free from family and sexual violence.

As part of this initiative, the Tasmanian Government has committed to deliver a new state-wide program to respond to children and young people under 18 years who display harmful sexual behaviours.

The program will address a service system gap identified as a priority need by stakeholders and the community, and the Tasmanian Government will work with key stakeholders and the community to scope the design of the service.

A consultation paper has been developed and feedback is invited from all interested stakeholders until 22 December 2019.

Submissions will inform the development and design of the new service, and can be forwarded to:
