Western Australians are invited to attend a local or online Containers for Change Community Information Session happening throughout August.
Western Australia Return Recycle Renew Ltd (WARRRL) is running information sessions across WA about the different ways interested organisations, including local residents, community groups and businesses, can participate in Containers for Change.
The sessions will detail how Containers for Change will work, how to get involved and how to fundraise through the scheme.
The session will answer questions such as:
- What containers will be eligible for the 10 cent refund?
- Where can I take my containers to receive my refund?
- How can my community group use Containers for Change as a way to fundraise?
- What happens to the containers that I recycle through Containers for Change?
From October 1, Western Australians will be able to return and recycle eligible drink containers at any Containers for Change refund point to receive a 10 cent refund per container.
More than 172 refund points will be open for business across Western Australia from October 1, with at least 229 refund points to be open by the end of the scheme’s first year.
Refund points will operate across the State, from Kalumburu in the north to Albany in the south, giving more than 99 per cent of Western Australians access to the scheme.
WARRRL is the appointed scheme co-ordinator responsible for establishing and maintaining Western Australia’s container deposit scheme.

“Containers for Change will bring with it constructive outcomes such as jobs, funding streams for community groups, ways to improve recycling, and a pathway to a cleaner and more sustainable environment.
“Importantly, Containers for Change will also provide a new way for community groups, schools, sports clubs and charities to fundraise.
“Whether it’s a P&C fundraising for a school camp or a community group raising money for new equipment, Containers for Change will make it easier than ever for groups to fundraise and for people to support causes close to their hearts.”
