Continuation of Self-Quarantine Following Overseas Travel (New Declaration COVID-19), South Australia

Those who have travelled overseas must comply with self-quarantine requirements in South Australia.

To reduce the spread of COVID-19 within South Australia; State Coordinator – Commissioner of Police Grant Stevens, has made a direction under the Emergency Management Act 2004 highlighting the ongoing requirements.

On 17 March 2020 the Chief Executive of the Department for Health and Wellbeing made a direction regarding the requirement to self-quarantine following overseas travel under the South Australian Public Health Act 2011.

The State Coordinator, Commissioner Stevens has issued an updated direction under the Emergency Management, Act 2004, which substitutes for those previous directions.

The requirements under the new direction remain the same, in that all overseas visitors to South Australia will be required to self-quarantine. The period of quarantine that is required is the balance of days left as stipulated in the original direction. This new direction does not reset the quarantine period, only remaining days are required to be served.

It is an offence to breach this direction.

Members of the public are urged to read the direction in full, which can be found here
