Projects preserving Margaret River’s heritage, enhancing community spaces, and supporting local volunteers have been delivered thanks to the Cook Labor Government.
Three local organisations have shared in $135,000 in funding from a 2025 State election commitment, delivering lasting benefits for the Margaret River community.
The Margaret River and Districts Historical Society used funding to protect and preserve the historic Old Blacksmiths Building at the Old Settlement Museum, including works to safeguard valuable archives and create a dedicated exhibition space showcasing the region’s early settlement history.
Margaret River HEART arts centre received $100,000 to upgrade its courtyard and install louvre shades, with further improvements planned to enhance the venue as a community gathering place and event space.
The Margaret River Surf Life Saving Club received $25,000 to purchase a purpose-built trailer, strengthening its ability to support beach safety, volunteer operations, and programs for local nippers.
The projects highlight the Cook Labor Government’s commitment to investing in local communities by preserving important heritage assets, improving community facilities, and supporting the volunteers and organisations that make regional Western Australia such a great place to live.
