Central Goldfields Shire Council has partnered with Maryborough Police this festive season to present the Thousand Bauble Project.

Local young people were invited to decorate their own Christmas bauble which will be displayed on trees around the Shire.

Central Goldfields Shire Mayor, Cr Chris Meddows-Taylor, Maryborough Police’s Senior Sergeant Wendy Lambert and Santa judged the baubles at the Central Goldfields Art Gallery today Wednesday 9 December.

Following the judging, the decorated trees will be hosted by local hospitality venues to define their outdoor eating areas.

If your child has decorated a bauble at school, it is a great opportunity to get out in the community to see it.

A selection of bauble entries will be on public display at Dine Out Goldfields Saturday 12 December 2020.

Cr Chris Meddows-Taylor thanked and congratulated everyone who participated in the project.

“I have been blown away by the huge response to the Thousand Bauble Project.

“Congratulations to all participants – everyone involved has done a magnificent job. Choosing the most festive baubles will be a difficult job.

“It was also great to see material for this competition – such as the baubles, trees and lights – were purchased locally and supporting Council’s Go Local First campaign.”
