Family connections programs, equipment for volunteers and youth art workshops are a few of the projects that will receive funding in the latest round of the Community Support Fund grants.

Port Stephens Council has tonight approved almost $30,000 for projects that address the social and economic impacts of COVID-19.

Mayor Ryan Palmer says the program has been designed to help restart Port Stephens.

“We launched our new funding programs in July 2020 in response to COVID-19. We knew then, as we do now, that social and economic impacts of the pandemic on our community are far-reaching.

“Our community support sector play a key role in helping us address these impacts and ensure that our people have access to the programs and help that they need.

“The Community Support Fund is just one of 10 funding programs we have available to help people with a range of projects and events throughout the year.

Rachel Wood, Port Stephens Council’s Economic Development and Tourism Coordinator says applications are now open for the Evening Economy Fund.

“We’re now looking for ideas that will inject excitement and life into the town centres of Raymond Terrace and Nelson Bay from 4pm to 9pm — it could be anything from live music and street performances to night markets, micro theatres and more.

“Applications are open until the end of April, so get in quick to have your bright idea considered,” Ms Wood said.
