Central Goldfields Shire Council will be planting 50 trees this week as part of the Cool It project.

The trees will be planted along sections of Burns, Victoria and Nolan streets to increase shade coverage.

The trees will be watered during summer until the trees are established.

General Manager Infrastructure Assets and Planning Rebecca Stockfeld said planting trees beautifies the Shire and will provide shade to our streets which is so important to making our urban areas pleasant in summer.

“These trees that are being planted shows Council’s commitment to long-term sustainability and we look forward to future generations appreciating these trees when they are full established.”

The Cool It project is jointly funded through the Central Victorian Greenhouse Alliance and Council.
