Council School-Based Trainees named finalists in National Training Awards

Two Griffith City Council School-Based Trainees have been named finalists in the 2022 NSW Training Awards.

Antoinette Galluzzo and Wil Donaldson are finalists in the School-Based Apprentice/Trainee of the Year category and will be heading to the regional conference at the Griffith Regional Theatre on 9 June, where the winner will be announced.

Antoinette works in the Customer Service Department of Council and is Studying Certificate II in Business through Marian Catholic College and Wil works at the Griffith Aquatic Leisure Centre gym Studying Certificate III in Fitness through Murrumbidgee Regional High School.

Council’s General Manager, Brett Stonestreet, said both students should be extremely proud, after progressing through the rigorous application and interview process.

“I want to congratulate them and wish them all the very best of luck,” Mr Stonestreet said.

“Council is committed to identifying traineeships and work experience programs to help secure the future of local students by providing on the job training, encouraging them to kick start their careers here in Griffith.”

Mr Stonestreet said it was good to see the achievements of two of Council’s young employees recognised.

“School-based apprenticeships and traineeships are more than just part-time jobs. They are a great way for students to set themselves up for the career they want while completing their HSC,” he said.

“It is important that Council helps play a role in growing our own.”

School Based Trainees must complete studies and 100 days of work experience during the 2 years of the traineeship. Wil and Antoinette will finish their traineeships in December 2022.
