Council to investigate parking options in Crows Nest

Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) may investigate opportunities for formalising a public off-street carpark in the vicinity of the Nolans Block in Crows Nest.

With increased business activity in Crows Nest, TRC Infrastructure Committee Portfolio Lead Cr Melissa Taylor said it was important Council considered ways it could help facilitate this growth.

“We’re in a fortunate situation where one of our regional towns is experiencing a noticeable rise in economic activity,” Cr Taylor said.

“There are a number of businesses which are seeing increased levels of visitation and as a result, more parking may be required.

“This is a town that is flourishing and we need to look at ways we can support the growth, where appropriate.

“Council owns or has rights to land in this vicinity, so our teams will soon begin the first steps of investigating options for more parking.

“An investigation would also look at the planning requirements and potential costs associated with formalising an off-street car-park, should Council wish to progress with such a project.”

At the Council meeting on 13 December, Council voted in favour of the following recommendation:

That Council investigate the opportunity for formalising a public off-street carpark, in the vicinity of Nolans Block, Crows Nest and consider the necessary funding for this phase of work at Budget Review 2.
