Couple arrested over Warradale break-in, South Australia

A man and woman will face court after allegedly breaking into a hairdresser at Warradale this morning.

Just before 2.30am on Thursday 13 January, police responded to alarm activations at a hair salon on Diagonal Road. CCTV captured two people at the premises who were then seen to leave in a silver SUV.

Patrols responded and quickly picked up the suspect vehicle in MacArthur Street at North Brighton. The driver of the Nissan failed to stop and was briefly pursued before being terminated for safety reasons.

The Nissan was spotted again turning into a dead end street on Raymond Grove. As the patrol turned into the street, the SUV reversed and collided with the police car and then into another car parked car in the street causing minor damage.

A man and woman in the car were subsequently arrested. Stolen items from the break in were found in the vehicle along with a sledge hammer.

The Nissan had also collided with a caravan parked in the front yard of a home causing significant damage.

Thankfully there were no reported injuries.

A 30-year-old man and 23-year-old woman, both from Victoria, have been charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass and theft. The man was further charged with acts to endanger life and driving to evade a police pursuit.

They are expected to appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court today.
