  • Courtney makes no commitment on new escalation protocols

  • Courtney must act to assist staff and patients in times of peak demand
  • Sarah Courtney has failed to give a commitment to introduce new escalation protocols at the Launceston General Hospital to assist staff and patients in times of peak demand.

Shadow Health Minister, Sarah Lovell, said the Minister was ignoring the concerns of staff.

“Staff at the LGH have been calling for the introduction of new escalation protocols, similar to those introduced at the Royal Hobart Hospital in 2017,” Ms Lovell said.

“This follows reports that requests by LGH staff to instigate a code yellow, or internal emergency, were recently ignored.

“The Auditor General’s report showed the LGH was operating at its highest level of escalation 70 per cent of time.

“With chaos becoming the new normal at the LGH, it’s time Sarah Courtney listened to staff and revealed when the new escalation protocols would be introduced.”
