Three men travelling from Tennant Creek to Alice Springs have been issued infringement notices for breaches of the Chief Health Officer’s Directions.
At around 6:20am on 18 December, the men, aged 36, 32 and 25, allegedly breached the Southern Tennant Creek border check point and continued driving to Alice Springs.
The 36- and 32-year-old were located by police on Sunday where they were both issued infringement notices and directed to isolate until they returned a negative test result.
The 25-year-old was located by police yesterday where he was also issued an infringement notice and directed to isolate until he returned a negative test result.
All three have since returned negative test results.
Incident Controller Commander Lauren Hill said, “The CHO directions are in place for the safety of the community and they are more important than ever now that COVID is in the NT.
“The actions of these three men has put undue pressure on our frontline staff and potentially risked the safety of the Alice Springs community.”
The penalty for failing to abide by the Chief Health Officer Directions issued under section 56 of the Public and Environment Health Act 2011 is $5056 for an individual and $25,280 for a business.
