Kilmore Fire Brigade also responded. No one was injured in the incident.

Second Lieutenant Jay Martin attended the event.

“The car appeared to have been dumped onto the train tracks,” Jay said. “We arrived on scene to find the car wedged under the train. We inspected the scene and couldn’t find any evidence of the car owner.”

The train carrying wheat was found 50 metres away from the level crossing in East Kilmore. Train services were shut down before the brigades arrived.

Ambulance Victoria, Victoria Police, SES Kilmore and ARTC were also on scene.

“The driver and pilot were a little shaken up, but after reassuring them no one was in the vehicle or harmed, they calmed down,” Jay added.

Brigade members checked the scene for any hazardous materials and deemed the scene safe at 12.15am. ARTC were then able to remove the vehicle and clear the scene.

“Although we don’t get too many rail accidents, we often have to respond to a range of different situations and it’s important to remain vigilant,” Jay said.
