Beloved Australian environmentalist and television personality Robert Irwin has been confirmed for the world’s biggest tourism summit in Perth this October.

Supported by the Western Australian Government, the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) Global Summit, taking place from 8-10 October at Crown Perth, brings together leaders from across the globe to discuss issues affecting tourism, trade and travel.

The theme for the 2024 Global Summit is “Ancient Land: New Perspectives” with the event to showcase Western Australia’s cultural heritage and incredible natural offerings.

The 2024 Summit is the first time the world-renowned conference has ever been held in Australia and will elevate WA as an emerging global leader in travel, tourism and trade.

The son of Australian legend Steve Irwin, Robert Irwin is the first major speaker to be announced for the three-day exclusive event by WTTC, the global authority on tourism, whose members include 200 world industry leaders from organisations like Emirates, Etihad Airways, Expedia and Visa.

The WTTC Global Summit is supported by the WA Government in partnership with Business Events Perth and Business Events Australia, with the event one of several high-profile business events secured for Perth over 2024-25, alongside G’Day Australia, 2025 Virtuoso Australia & New Zealand Forum and Routes Asia 2025.

As stated by Tourism Minister Rita Saffioti:

“Robert Irwin is a household Australian name so we’re very excited to have secured him for this prestigious event.

“Robert’s passion for wildlife and nature definitely make him an ideal speaker for this event, and I have no doubt he’ll be a major drawcard for attendees.

“We’re really proud to be supporting this high-profile business event which will spotlight Western Australia as an emerging global leader, showcase our State’s incredible natural landscapes while also elevating new tourism investment opportunities.

“Of course, with business delegate spend generally being up to five times more than the average leisure visitor, there are also major economic benefits to be realised from events like WTTC, which is why we continue to invest and focus on attracting these to WA alongside our other major events.”
