Criminal Groups Squad detectives charge teen for his allege involvement in kidnapping

Criminal Groups Squad detectives have charged a teenager for his alleged role in kidnapping and torturing an Edmonson Park man earlier this year.

In July 2024, State Crime Command’s Criminal Groups Squad detectives established Strike Force Currambene to investigate organised criminal acts including shootings, home invasions, kidnapping and drug supply allegedly being carried out by a group that were hired by and operating on behalf of organised criminal networks.

These incidents include an alleged public place shooting at Austral on Thursday 25 July 2024 and a home invasion and kidnapping at Edmonson Park on Wednesday 14 August 2024.

As part of these investigations, strike force detectives arrested and charged three men for their alleged roles in the shooting, home invasion and kidnapping. All three men remain before the courts.

Following further investigations, strike force detectives arrested a 17-year-old boy at Campbelltown Police Station yesterday (Thursday 3 October 2024).

He was charged with special aggravated break and enter with intent armed with dangerous weapon, kidnap in company with intent serious indictable occasion actual bodily harm and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.

The teen was refused bail to appear before Children’s court yesterday where he was further refused bail to reappear before Children’s court on Thursday 10 October 2024.

Investigations under Strike Force Currambene continue.
