Cross Border Travel Change Postponed, South Australia

“Changes announced following the State’s Transition Committee this morning have been put on hold following the announcement that Victoria will go into lockdown for seven days at 8pm tonight.

This is an evolving situation and will continue to be monitored.

Current Restrictions

All travellers who have been in Victoria are prohibited from entering South Australia.

Essential Travellers, returning South Australian residents, people genuinely relocating, and people escaping Domestic Violence who have been in Victoria, can enter South Australia, but are subject to Level 4 requirements:

  • COVID-19 test on day 1, 5, & 13.
  • Self-quarantine for 14 days (from the day of arrival).
  • Must wear a face mask (covering mouth and nose) at any time that they come into contact with the public for a period of 14 days after their arrival in South Australia.

Essential Travellers must self-quarantine in accordance with their class of Essential Traveller.

Cross Border Communities

The Victorian Cross border corridor has been extended to the area 70 km either side of the border between South Australia and Victoria.

Permitted purposes for travel are:

  • Employment or education
  • Providing care and support to or receiving care from another person or obtaining food, petrol or other fuel or medical care or supplies
  • Obtaining a COVID-19 vaccination
  • Recreational or competitive sport.

Residents of South Australia and Victoria living in the Cross Border Corridor are not required to submit to testing requirements if they have not left the Cross Border corridor in the last 14 days and have not associated with a person in Victoria from the restricted zone (outside of the cross border corridor).
