La Fiesta, Canberra’s biggest celebration of Latin American culture, returns this Saturday

The rhythms, flavours and spirit of Latin America will fill Canberra’s City Centre as La Fiesta returns this Saturday 7 November 2026. Now in its fourth year, the festival is set to be the biggest yet, with more vendors, activities and performances to enjoy.

Hosted by the City Renewal Authority, the free event will take over Latin American Plaza from 1pm to 10pm, and the sounds, culture and flavours of Latin America will come to life as part of this inclusive, family-friendly fiesta.

The event continues to grow, with this year’s program featuring three dedicated areas. The main stage and dance stage will showcase the diversity of Latin American music and performance, from nueva cumbia and Afro-Cuban grooves to Afro-Brazilian rhythms, reggae and more. Nationally renowned acts including Sorbo Amplio, Suns of Mercury and The New Monos will deliver a soundtrack designed for dancing, discovery and celebration.

This year’s event also introduces a community stage featuring artist talks, workshops and panel discussions. Festivalgoers can explore an open-air art gallery showcasing contemporary works developed in collaboration with Latin American embassies. The gallery theme, City of Colours, celebrates the creativity, diversity and richness of Latin American culture.

Food is also a highlight of La Fiesta, with more than a dozen vendors serving dishes from across Latin America. Visitors can enjoy everything from Brazilian barbecue, Peruvian street food and Colombian arepas to Mexican tacos, empanadas and more.

La Fiesta’s international connections continue to grow, with ambassadors and diplomatic representatives from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, Guatemala and Mexico participating each year. Their involvement reflects the strong cultural ties between Canberra and the Latin American community.
