Victoria’s vibrant local music industry will get stronger and more diverse leadership thanks to a mentoring program for women.
Minister for Women Gabrielle Williams today opened applications for the 2020 Cultivate, a program for women leaders in the music industry which helps advance their career.
The Andrews Labor Government has funded Music Victoria to deliver the second year of the Cultivate leadership program.
Cultivate will match participants with a mentor, provide group mentoring workshops and masterclasses, arrange individual leadership coaching and host a full-day mentoring and leadership conference.
Applicants must work in the contemporary Victorian music sector and fulfil one of the following criteria:
- Own a small business that operates in or around the contemporary music sector
- Be employed in a leadership or management position by a business or organisation with a primary focus on engaging with the contemporary music sector
- Be managing or leading people in their current role (including paid staff, volunteers or interns).
The Labor Government is driving greater diversity in leadership positions across all sectors – diversity leads to better decision making and outcomes for all.
Music shapes the way we understand the world and the standards we are willing to accept. By having more women in leadership positions in the music industry, our music will better reflect our values.
