Curtin University is continuing to monitor the rapidly changing novel coronavirus situation and following the most recent Federal Government advice for universities. As always the health, safety and wellbeing of our staff and students remains the University’s priority.
Yesterday, the Australian Government issued new directives regarding entry restrictions for foreign nationals from mainland China, self-isolation of travellers from or through China and travel bans to China – available here.
In accordance with that advice, Curtin is now requiring any staff or students who have returned from mainland China within the past 14 days to self-isolate and not return to campus for 14 days from the time they left or transited through China.
Curtin had already brought most of our staff and students travelling in China on official University business home and they have been asked to self-isolate.
Curtin is committed to providing support to any staff or students affected by either the period of self-isolation or existing travel bans. Measures to be put in place for staff include special leave arrangements and for students, flexible learning options and the online delivery of course material.
