Dago Point Veteran Multipurpose Education and Training Facility

Guy Barnett, Minister for Veterans Affairs

The Rockliff Liberal Government has welcomed the funding for the new Veterans Multipurpose Education and Training Facility at Dago Point, announced this week by Veterans Affairs Minister, Hon Matt Keogh.

The $292,022 commitment from the Australian Federal Government combined with $100,000 from the Tasmanian Government will enable the completion of the Veterans’ Multipurpose Education and Training Facility.

Minister for Veterans Affairs, Guy Barnett said the new Veterans Facility reaffirms the Rockliff Liberal Government’s commitment to veterans and their families.

‘We’re absolutely dedicated to improving the lives of our Tasmanian veterans and this Veterans Multipurpose Education and Training Facility will make a real difference for them and their families,” said Minister Barnett.

The funding follows $100,000 allocated for the renovation of a shack on property at Dago Point gifted by the Tasmanian Government to the Vietnam Veterans’ Association of Australia.

Minister Barnett said the repurposed shack has been beautifully repurposed into a Veterans Retreat for the use of Veterans of all ages and complements the existing Vietnam Veterans retreat.

“I have visited the site at Dago Point many times and the new facility will be a great addition for the Veteran Community and further enhances the two veterans’ facilities in the Dago Point area.”

Terry Roe, project manager for the Veteran Multipurpose Education and Training Facility said he is pleased with the announcement by Federal Veterans Affairs Minister, Hon Matt Keogh after a lengthy journey.

“The Veterans Retreats and Veteran Multipurpose Education and Training Facility are for the use of any Veteran and their families and once the new facility is completed will be able to offer Veteran specific wellbeing courses.’

The Rockliff Liberal Government is a proud supporter of our veterans and ex-service community and is dedicated to providing the services and facilities they need and deserve.
