Daniel Andrews continues to fail integrity test

Liberal Party Victoria

Daniel Andrews continues to fail the integrity test as he protects and promotes Labor’s red shirt rorter – John Lenders.

In 2018, the Victorian Ombudsman found John Lenders to be the “principal architect” of Labor red shirts rort – an “artifice” which saw $388,000 of taxpayer money misused for Labor’s 2014 election campaign.

Despite his role this infamous rort, John Lenders continues to play a central role within the Victorian Labor Party as a member of Labor’s election campaign committee.

Remarkably, when questioned today, Daniel Andrews refused to remove Mr Lenders from this senior position and stated “I respect John”.

Leader of the Liberal Party in the Legislative Council, David Davis, said time and again Daniel Andrews continues to fail the integrity test.

“How can anyone trust Labor to clean up its culture of corruption when rorters are promoted and protected?”

“Instead of acting to rebuild community trust, Daniel Andrews now says he respects the mastermind behind a $388,000 theft of taxpayers’ money.”

“Daniel Andrews is refusing to repay more than $1.3 million in misused money and refusing to dump the red shirts rorter.”

“Only a Matthew Guy Liberals and Nationals Government will boost the funding and powers of the corruption watchdog and return integrity to government in Victoria.”
