Dawesville Community Centre project given funding boost

  • Dawesville community to benefit from a $3.2 million boost to a multi-purpose community centre project
  • Additional funding follows a $3 million State Government election commitment

The Cook Government has today announced a $3.2 million boost to the Dawesville multi-purpose community centre project.

The State Government has previously invested $3 million in the project as a 2021 election commitment, through the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development – with additional funding secured to meet the project’s full specifications. There was also a $1.4 million capital contribution from Lotterywest.

The proposed scope of the project includes a main hall with a stage, storerooms, universally accessible toilet, kitchen, office space, a meeting room space with sound insulation, landscaping, and a play area.

The project will provide significant social and economic benefits to local residents, with Dawesville expected to double in size over the next decade.

Comments attributed to Regional Development Minister Don Punch:

“The Cook Government’s additional investment in this project will deliver an important facility to the Dawesville community.

“Dawesville is expected to double in size over the next decade, so this multi-purpose centre will become an important asset for the growing population.”

Comments attributed to Dawesville MLA Lisa Munday:

“I’d like to thank the Cook Government for the additional funding that will allow this important election commitment to become a reality.

“A community centre is important for building social connections, and I have no doubt this facility will become a vital hub for the local community.”
