Day one of policing response Gold Coast Schoolies 2019

Thousands of school leavers are expected to arrive on the Gold Coast today with traditional ‘Schoolies Week’ celebrations officially kicking off tonight.

Queensland Police will today be monitoring the influx of teenagers as they arrive and book into their accommodation.

Overnight there were no schoolies arrested, and police are hopeful that revellers will continue to behave in a responsible manner as the week unfolds.

Schoolies week is a timely reminder to the community that the possession and consumption of illicit drugs is illegal. Not only is it illegal – it is also dangerous and could have fatal consequences.

Police will not hesitate to take enforcement action against anyone found in possession of, supplying, trafficking or producing dangerous drugs.
