The Albanese Government is delivering affordable health care to Queenslanders with more bulk billing and cheaper medicines helping ease cost of living pressures.
Since the government’s historic investment to strengthen Medicare there are now 683 fully bulk billing GP clinics in Queensland, almost double the number prior to 1 November 2025.
Making it easier for people to see a doctor for free, the bulk billing rate has increased to 79.5 per cent in Queensland up 4 percentage points.
Now a permanent part of the health system, 25 Medicare Urgent Care Clinics across the state are delivering free urgent care with more than 632,000 visits helping people over extended hours, seven days a week.
Queenslanders have also saved $541 million on over 86.6 million prescriptions, with the Albanese Government’s cheaper medicines reforms; 60-day prescriptions, cutting the maximum price of PBS medicines to $25 and freezing the price to $7.70 for concession card holders for the rest of the decade.
The Albanese Government is supporting Queensland public hospitals with an historic funding deal delivering an additional $5.7 billion over five years, totalling $51.4 billion.
To support Queenslanders, 16 Medicare Mental Health Centres have been opened with 8 more confirmed to be established across the state. This builds on the 33 headspace centres helping young Australians, and two Perinatal Mental Health Centres providing new and expectant parents with free, personalised mental health support.
