Detectives release CCTV of attempted armed robbery of taxi driver – Waterford West

Detectives have released CCTV images of a man they are seeking in relation to the attempted armed robbery of a taxi driver at Waterford West in early December last year (2019).

Around 12.15pm on December 5, a man was picked up from a taxi rank outside a shopping centre at Inala. He was driven to Carnation Street at Waterford West at which time the man pulled a knife from a bag and threatened the 54-year-old male taxi driver.

The taxi driver sounded his horn which caused the man to flee the vehicle empty handed.

He was last seen running towards Sunflower Street and Lavender Street intersection at Waterford West.

The man is described as aged 18 to 20 years old and between 160cm to 170 cm tall.

He was wearing a yellow hooded jumper, black scarf, blue shorts, black socks and high cut shoes possibly work boots.
