Devonport Food and Wine

Devonport Food and Wine will look a bit different this year, but Devonport City Council is hoping to bring the month-long festival back this October with a selection of events that you can experience in person or from the comfort of your own couch.
“We understand that it is still problematic for many to get out and about in the world of COVID, so we would like to be able to offer a broad range of events and experiences, whatever people’s circumstances”, said the Chair of the Food and Wine Working Group, Councillor Lynn Laycock.
The Group is seeking Expressions of Interest from venues in and around Devonport, to host events throughout the annual festival.
“We’ve had a few ideas around possible online events including cooking demonstrations, producer tours, competitions, and virtual tastings, while still keeping some in-person events,” Cr Laycock said.
“We are very keen for venues to put their own spin on things and encourage them to think outside the box.
“In order to present a balanced calendar of events, we are seeking a variety of experiences that cater to different ages, wages and locations. Our event staff are available to discuss options and are keen to assist venues in developing an interesting and varied programme.”
Devonport City Council Mayor, Councillor Annette Rockliff said that she is excited for this year’s event, “I congratulate the Working Group and staff on adapting to our current situation and I look forward to seeing what Devonport Food and Wine 2020 will look like.”
