Disturbance, Townsville Correctional Complex

QCS can confirm that four prisoners have been escorted to the Detention Unit following a disturbance at the Townsville Correctional Complex this morning.

Four prisoners became non-compliant in a secure unit and barricaded themselves in the exercise yard around 10am.

Officers attempted to negotiate with the prisoners but were forced to deploy chemical agents and all four were restrained without any further incident and were taken to the Detention Unit.

No officers of prisoners were injured during the incident.

The Senior Leadership Team praised the officers involved for their professionalism and conduct while dealing with the incident.
