The City of Stonnington is seeking feedback on a proposal to restore diving as part of improvement works at the Harold Holt Swim Centre in Glen Iris.
City of Stonnington Mayor, Cr Steve Stefanopoulos, is excited to present this proposal to the community for feedback.
“The diving facility at ‘Harold Holt’ closed in 2003 and we’re regularly asked if it can be reopened,” said Cr Stefanopoulos.
“Council has worked with the original architects to develop plans for restoration of the diving tower and pool, which were constructed in 1969 and are on the Victorian Heritage Register.
“The next step is to provide an opportunity for pool users, residents and the community to give feedback.
“This is an exciting proposal and I encourage everyone to go online, be one of the first people to see the plans and complete our survey.
“In preparing the proposal, Council has and will continue to liaise with key stakeholders such as Diving Victoria, Heritage Victoria and Life Saving Victoria,” added Cr Stefanopoulos.

Improvement works
A $3m suite of improvement works is also underway at ‘Harold Holt’ to ensure the centre continues to meet the needs of our current and next generation of swimmers and exercise enthusiasts.
These works will include retiling pools, replacement of lights with energy efficient LED fittings, accessibility improvements to the outdoor 50m pool, refurbishment of the outdoor change rooms and upgrading spectator seating.
