“The NSW Doctors Reform Society today joined the call from the former Anglican Archbishop of Canterbury,Dr Carey, in calling for the religious fundamentalists in the NSW parliament,including the Premier Domenic Perrottet ,to stop their deliberate delaying tactics and finally pass the Voluntary Assisted Dying(VAD) Law that is stalled in the Legislative Council.”Said Dr Robert Marr GP and Vice President of NSW Doctors Refrom Society.
Some relgious Aged Care Homes want the right to deny VAD for their residents but the former Archbishop Dr Carey has stated “No Care home should take such control of a mature rational person in full control of his or her faculties that the persons rights are taken away.That would be cruel ,monstrous,unethical and un-Christian “
“NSW citizens have been denied the right to decide how much suffering they have to endure at the end of their life by the religious fundamentalists in the NSW parliament who have so far refused to vote to legalize Voluntary Assisted Dying.”said Dr Marr
“Every other state in Australia has legalizied VAD and it is now time NSW politicians listened to the over 70% of NSW citizens who support the legalization of VAD and pass the VAD laws this week withhout further ammendment.”said Dr Marr
