Draft Cultural Strategy consultation set to close

The public consultation period for the City of Launceston’s draft Cultural Strategy closes this Friday, August 28, 2020.

After a delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Launceston launched community consultation on its draft Cultural Strategy for Launceston last month.

The draft Cultural Strategy lays out five proposed strategic aims for the Council:

• To respect Aboriginal Culture

• To realise the potential of our cultural places and assets

• To foster creative practices

• Reveal our cultural stories, and

• Build and extend partnerships

To mark the final week of consultation, the City of Launceston hosted an online panel discussion, chaired by Deputy Mayor Danny Gibson.

The panel comprised:

Courtney Greisbach, Editor at The Examiner Newspaper

Tracy Puklowski, General Manager at the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery

Isabella Hayes, Student at Newstead College

Colin James, PhD candidate at the University of Tasmania.
