A Victorian man crashed his car at Port Augusta last night while drink driving and breaching COVID19 directions.
About 6.30pm on Saturday 17 June, police responded to a single vehicle collision on Parkside Row, Port Augusta. A Toyota sedan had mounted the kerb and crashed into a sign on the footpath, causing minor damage to the vehicle.
The driver, a 28-year-old Victorian man, recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.229.
Police checks revealed the driver was also disqualified from driving. He was arrested and charged with drink driving, driving while disqualified and aggravated driving without due care.
He was issued with an additional 12 month loss of licence and will appear in the Port Augusta Magistrates Court on 21 September. His vehicle was impounded for 28 days.
Further checks revealed he had entered South Australia eight days ago and had been issued with a direction to self-isolate. He subsequently received a $1060 fine for breaching this direction.
