Police have a caught a P-plater travelling at an alleged speed of 184km/h in a 100km/h zone in Thomastown on Friday night.
Police detected the speeding driver about 9.40pm as he was travelling west on the Metropolitan Ring Road.
As a result the 18-year-old Bundoora man had his Holden Commodore impounded for a period of 30 days at a cost of $884.
He is expected to be charged on summons for speeding, drive at night with no lights and fail to display P plates.
