NSW latest new designs unveiled for $265 million Port Macquarie Base Hospital Redevelopment

Port Macquarie and surrounding communities are being given a look at the future of healthcare in the region, with new artist’s impressions for the Port Macquarie Base Hospital Redevelopment unveiled, showcasing the new and upgraded clinical spaces.

The Minns Labor Government is investing $265 million to upgrade the existing Port Macquarie Hospital with modern, purpose-built facilities to help meet the growing needs of communities across the Mid North Coast.

The redevelopment will deliver more than 10,000 square metres of new and upgraded floor space and includes:

  • Construction of a new multi-storey Inpatient Unit and Acute Geriatric Evaluation and Management (AGEM) block
  • Expansion and refurbishment of the Emergency Department, increasing capacity and improving patient flow to meet growing demand
  • Relocated Maternity and Neonatal Care units to new modern, family-centred facilities designed to support families and their babies
  • Essential upgrades to the mechanical systems across existing hospital buildings.

Once complete, the upgrades will improve the healthcare experience for staff, patients and the local community.

Construction of the redevelopment is expected to commence in 2027, following planning approvals and appointment of the contractor.

Community members are being invited to view and provide feedback on the latest designs, artist impressions and proposed locations of the new and enhanced health services and facilities at pop-up information sessions:
