Drug charges after vehicle intercept in Aspley, QLD

A man has been arrested and charged by police who intercepted a vehicle around midday Saturday October 9, on Gympie Road, Aspley.

Highway patrol officers stopped the car after it was observed to be driving in a dangerous manner.

The driver failed to comply with a direction to remain in the vehicle and the officer observed the man conceal property beneath his seat.

During his arrest, the man was non-compliant and allegedly obstructed police by attempting to tear open packets of drugs on the roadside.

Officers allegedly discovered 12kgs of cannabis in cryovaced packets inside a cardboard box in the ute tray, along with small quantities of MDMA, cocaine and cash in the cabin.

A 29-year-old Wynnum man has been charged with obstruct police, three counts of possessing a dangerous drug and possessing property suspected of being the proceeds of an offence under the Drugs Misuse Act.

He was denied police bail and will appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow, Monday October 11.
