Hills Fleurieu Police are appalled that some motorists are still not getting the message after the same man was caught drug driving within eight hours in the Adelaide Hills.
Just before 9am on Monday 12 August, patrols stopped a Mitsubishi station wagon on Flaxmill Road at Mount Barker and drug tested the driver. He returned a positive result to methamphetamine and was issued with a driver direction not to drive for 24 hours.
Then at about 4pm the same day, patrols spotted the man driving erratically on Princess Highway at Littlehampton. He was again stopped and drug tested – returning a second positive result to methamphetamine. On this occasion he also had his 6 and 3 year-old sons in the car. He was issued with another 24 hour direction not to drive.
The 49-year-old from Macclesfield will face drug driving charges pending forensic analysis of the drug tests along with driving contrary to direction.
Acting Officer in Charge of Hills Fleurieu Local Service Area, Inspector Sickerdick said, “SAPOL has just commenced Operation High Impact F5 with the strong message NOT to drink or drug drive, yet here we have an example of a person willing to not only put their own life and their children’s lives in danger but also the lives of other road users.
