Drug raids at Sunshine Coast

Sunshine Coast police have seized drugs and weapons during a series of raids carried out over the past two days which resulted in 13 people being charged.

Search warrants were executed at a total of 17 local addresses with officers locating methamphetamine and cannabis as well as two taser-type devices and a firearm.

A 19-year-old man has been charged with possessing dangerous drugs after nearly one kilo of cannabis was located at a Maroochydore address. He is due in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on March 26.

Police drug detection dogs assisted in the location of a quantity of methylamphetamine at an address in Caloundra. Investigations are continuing in relation to this matter. A 29-year-old woman at the location was charged with a number of offences including possession of utensils and stealing.

A search at a Buderim address resulted in the seizure of a taser-type device. A 36-year-old woman was charged with five offences including possessing dangerous drugs and unlawful possession of a weapon. She is due in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on April 3.

A second taser-type device and a firearm were located by officers at an address in Tanawha yesterday. A 29-year-old man has been charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of dangerous drugs and is due in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on April 2.

Investigations are continuing with further charges expected.
