Drug Trafficking And Supply Charges in Fortitude Valley, QLD

The Fortitude Valley Tactical Crime Squad has charged 48 people following investigations into the trafficking of cocaine in Fortitude Valley.

Operation Perico took place over four weekends in May following intel of cocaine being trafficked in the Fortitude Valley area.

The investigation resulted in 48 arrests and more than 90 offences including trafficking dangerous drugs, supplying dangerous drugs, producing dangerous drugs and possession of a knife.

Throughout the investigation police seized $40,000 in cash, 169 grams of cocaine and a knife.

Among those charged was a 22-year-old Logan Reserve man who was arrested on 30 May.

He has been charged with two counts of supplying dangerous drugs and one count each of trafficking in dangerous drugs, possessing dangerous drugs, producing dangerous drugs, possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of an offence under the drugs misuse act, possess property suspected of having been acquired for the purpose of committing a drug offence, possessing anything used in the commission of crime and possessing dangerous drugs schedule 1 drug quantity of or exceeding schedule 3 but less than schedule 4.

He will appear at Brisbane Magistrates Court on 3 July.

A 19-year-old Alderley man was also charged with one count of possession of a knife in a public place.

He will appear at Brisbane Magistrates Court on 12 June.

Fortitude Valley Tactical Crime Squad Senior Sergeant, Travers Weychardt, said the investigation had disrupted an established supplier and removed a significant quantity of drugs from the streets of Brisbane.

“These types of offences are never simply a private exchange between two people, they impact the whole community, fuelling crime and endangering lives.

“The success of this operation demonstrates our commitment to disrupting the supply of dangerous drugs and protecting the people of Brisbane. Anyone engaging in these offences can expect to face serious consequences, including criminal charges and possibly jail time.”
